***Pete Spratt beat Allen Woods in Round 1 by submission on 6/11/09 in Frisco, TX. RPBJJ student, Ryan Larson, fought on the same card and beat opponent, Phillip Priest, by submission in Round 1, as well.
***Aaron Rosa defeated Anthony Ruiz on May 15, 2009 in the SHO MMA Strikeforce Challenger Series 1. Aaron finished the fight in Round 1 with a Rear-Naked Choke.
RPBJJ student, Arthur Gonzalez, is now a BJJ World Champion! Arthur won 1st place at the World Championships held in Long Beach, CA on June 4th. WAY TO GO
***RPBJJ student, Rich Hernandez, took first place in the "Fight To Win Texas Open 2009" held in Austin, TX. Rich won all of his matches by submission!
***Team RPBJJ, with 12 competitors, took second place overall in the Gi Competition at NAGA. The team had 7-first place, 3-second place, and 2-third place finishers!
**Team RPBJJ took home two silver medals at the 2009 Pan-Ams held in California. Luis Rubalcava placed 2nd in the Blue Belt Super
Heavy Weight division and Walber Nascimiento finished 2nd in the Purple Belt Light Weight Division.
*The Royler Gracie Seminar was a huge success. Thanks to Royler for visiting the academy and thanks to all the students who attented and showed their support.
*Rodrigo defeated opponent Dave Phillips on Nov. 22 in Austin with a first-round TKO. Diego also won his bout against the Deuce King at "Season's Beatings" with a rear-naked choke in the first round.

*Diego Brandao, fighting out of Rodrigo Pinheiro BJJ, fought in Oklahoma on June 27th. He brought home a win, defeating opponent, Brian Foster from Oklahoma, by first round TKO.
*Our first in-house tournament, held on July 12th, was a big success. Congrats to absolute gi winner, Joseph Reyes, and absolute gi winner, Tony Erard. Stay posted for upcoming in-house tournaments.
*Students, Jason Anders and Donny Blue, received their purple belts under Rodrigo Pinheiro.
*Rodrigo Pinheiro BJJ Competition Team competed at the NAGA Europa World Grappling Championship held in Dallas on August 16th. Overall, the team did very well, bringing home an array of medals, including 1st place Men's No-Gi Novice Middle Weight(Tony Erard), 2nd place Men's No-Gi Novice Light Heavyweight (John Langston), and 2nd place Men's Gi Purple belt Middle Weight (Diego Brandao). Rodrigo also took 1st in both Men's No-Gi and Gi Expert Cruiser Weight.
